Simple ways to recruit competent employees and how to keep them.

Morning Session – 9:30 am to 12:00 noon

Services nationally are struggling with the two fold problem of finding adequately trained staff to cover their operational needs and retaining them after they have been appointed.

The competence and value of trained staff coming from RTO’s is not consistent and with very few exceptions, services have no choice but to unofficially retrain staff for them to be of any real value.

This seminar will not give you magic powers of attraction BUT will give you tools that have been used by many services over the years to attract quality educators or dig them out of a group of candidates, employ them, support them and enjoy their loyalty.

This seminar will cover:

  • Defining what you are looking for? - skills reviews and what we actually need not think we need and planning for tomorrow.
  • What to look for in an employee beyond a certificate - selection criteria.
  • Who should be on a selection panel.   Primal attraction.
  • Questions to ask during interview that help you know what your really looking at.
  • Advantages and legalities of “try before you buy” - test-driving a new staff member.
  • Induction and its relationship with ongoing performance monitoring - am I setting my staff up to fail .
  • What if you get it wrong - the dangers of ignoring mistakes?
